I love the line "He's more storyteller than suit." I also like the common sense approach here. Identify your story. Articulate it so people will get it. Tell the story, often. Thanks for sharing this post, John.

You're so lucky to have met Bedbury. I've just Binished his book on branding ("A New brand World") and found both the author and the book just brilliant!

John: I enjoyed your insurance article. I had a similar experience about 15 years ago. A passenger in my boat fell out and lost his arm. It was my boat but not my fault. Turned out to be my liability because it was a navigable stream and not a lake. Anyway USAA was my insurer. They handled everything: medical, psych, job training, and final payment. They set up a pension for monthly pay out over 20 years.

I sent the person to the best legal guy in the city to review the documents and he said he couldn't do any better so he took the deal from USAA without hiring the lawyer.

Needless to say I have stuck with USAA. Never seen an ad from these guys. Maybe it's because they take care of their customers. Joe

Bedbury is a sharp guy no doubt but he and others in charge at jones soda really screwed investors over. I find it intersting hes all about placing people and principles above profit and didnt like seeing s'bucks stock price everyday but he sure pulled the rug out on s'holders at jones. i guess share price and profit mattered then. In essence, good for Scott,he won,s-holders lost (he is a big reason jones is in a lawsuit). Typical talk it but dont walk it.
